Strawberry Banana Oat Smoothie: Strawberries, bananas, yoghurt and oats soaked in milk whizzed for quite a while until the oats blend down to form a thick, pink, icecreamy melange.
Another one to try is the very simple but always good Banana Maple Nut Smoothie: bananas, spoon of smooth peanut or almond butter, yoghurt, a splosh of milk and a drizzle of maple syrup, agave or honey. Whizz until silky and pour down throat in ecstasy...
Yet another one is Chocolate Orange Smoothie: Bananas, freshly squeezed orange juice and grated zest, raw cocoa powder (or just cocoa if needs be), milk-soaked oats. This needs thorough blending again to get the oats to cream down and use the orange juice to thin it down. But this tastes really fine and it actually has a good bit of goodness in it. If you use raw cacao then this almost counts as another bit of fruit (in my book) so don't feel guilty about schlurping on this or breakfast.
All of these smoothies freeze well to make icepops or freeze in old containers and then thaw very slightly before whizzing in the blender again- this makes an fluffy ice cream. Yum!
