I'm not sure if it'll still be this cold and rainy by Friday but just in case I'll be doing a warming pot of Red Lentil and Ginger Soup and a Leek and Potato Stew with Sour Cream and Colwick Horseradish Dumplings.
Yes, you read that correctly... Dumplings! I'll be at Colwick in the lashing downpour with my stick digging up the horseradish roots on Thursday! I felt the need for something soothing, filling and Autumnal but with something to ward off the sniffles so this came to mind. I assume it will be good although I have never made it before!
Pudding on Friday will be a Toffee and Walnut Loaf cake.
On Saturday for our brunch-lunch it'll be a Special Cheese and Two-Tone Vegetable Strudel (one side will be red cabbage, apple and blackberry vinegar and the other side will be carrot, pumpkin seed and apple... Welded together with sharp cheese and then rolled in some buttery pastry and baked...) served with Honey-Drizzled, Roasted Tomatoes, Home made Tangy Apple Sauce and Buttered Toast.
To top off the warming delights at this week's cafe there will be a baked Marmalade Rice Pudding Cake with a Brown Sugar Crumble Topping.
See you there,
